Strange impositions on the world

June 7, 2006 @ 7:30 PM

This link is about the record of one woman's grandfather's photos series in WWII representing his experience in the Asian theater. As I watched the link with the Flickr slideshow option, I happened to be listening to a set of comfortable songs from my iTunes collection. It kind of brought a new sense of how we view or influence the world around us. As the camera captured scenes from 1945-1947, I am sure the photographer was not aware of the influence western societies would exert on their cultures.
I got a sense of our approach to the rest of the world, at least from my perspective. I felt as an encroacher, even though I obviously have no influence due to the separation of time. Spooky. Now put time as a lens between this photo series and our current experiences. Influence stands out very starkly, not entirely to benefit, from a world perspective or from even an Americo(is that making sense? I know it is a word I probably just made up…) view. What does that say? I am not sure. Read the rest of this entry »

My apologies to this company

June 6, 2006 @ 1:38 PM

In the past, I have spoken and thought very poorly about corporations in general.

After reading this article about a man saved by his co-workers from a tumor growing at the base of brain, I am very pleasantly proven wrong about this company at least. At the end of the story is the main thing that makes me happy to see. The workers donated to pay for a scan that saved his life, but then the manager is kind enough to repay them through the payroll even though the manager clearly did not have to.

What are you gonna do?

You know what? I have been watching all these things (Top Ten Signs of the Impending Police State)  happen one by one, and never really thought about it from the perspective presented here. Is it really a conspiracy driven by a team(not that the site said so)? I don't know, but it sure is easy to be gradually drawn into giving away our freedoms and privacy once we are threatened by the unknown. Bush and team are really exploiting our fears. How in the hell can this be happening here? I remember as a young adult, reading accounts from the Soviet Union in amazement and realizing people would tolerate such actions by their leaders. I thought at the time, never could happen here, we would not tolerate it. Yeah, right, so much for that.

I just found this sight, and I don't know much about it yet, but I continue to read. Maybe too left? Is there such a thing? Time will tell……

OMG

I cannot adequately describe my depression at the continual erosion of our rights by the present administration. Things that would have been unthinkable in the very recent past are now open for use(abuse?) and no one even blinks. Where are the journalists? What happened to the watchdogs of the past. Oh yeah, they are under their own special surveilance. See abc bent over the trunk of a chevy
In the past, we were somewhat shielded by the lack of technological advancements. The government just didn't possess the capability to mine information from seemingly non-related data points. Now we are witnessing an unintentional harvest made possible by our advancements.

What to do, what to do? More later…..after the dust settles and we understand more of the breaking news events.

Rinse Repeat – never move forward

Daour Report
See the above link. Makes it real clear that the liberals (or anyone who disagrees with prezzy) will not succeed in stopping the present administration. Not as long as they are not clearly organized, focused and united.
Unfortunately, a lot of the press are participating as dupes. Go figure.
